High Performance CPR

Course Duration: 1.5hrs                                                                                                  $60 per person

CPR guidelines define the most effective way to perform CPR. Yet there is a gap in quality between recommended guidelines and actual performance by most providers.

 This course closes this gap and teaches you to work efficiently

together with other providers.

High-Performance CPR is a simple concept: Improve the performance of CPR through high-quality skills, along with a practiced team approach, and the chance for survival improves.

The program, available for delivery in classroom and blended learning options, also emphasises the need for an ongoing effort to improve and maintain skills,

with suggestions and tools for ongoing skill development.

The Australian Resuscitation Council guidelines recommend ,

that CPR skills are renewed every 12 months.

HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation

 In day to day life, in the workplace, in the community or at home, you may be confronted by a life-threatening emergency such as someone experiencing Cardiac Arrest. Quick decision making and knowledge on what to do could save someone’s life.

This course provides you with the skills and knowledge to recognise when someone is unconscious and not breathing normally (Cardiac Arrest) and increase their chance of survival by calling an ambulance and performing potentially lifesaving cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), including using a defibrillator, until emergency services arrive to take over.

The course is delivered in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council guidelines and applies to all workers or members of the community who may be required to provide CPR in the event of an emergency.

Course Includes

  • Legal issues
  • Infection control
  • DRSABCD action plan
  • Managing the unconscious breathing casualty
  • Resuscitation (CPR) on an adult and child manikin
  • AED terminology
  • Safety when using an AED
  • Preparation of a casualty prior to using an AED

* CPR adult assessment must be completed on the floor

CPR Masterclass

High Performance CPR (HP-CPR)

 The quality of CPR is an equally important predictor of survival as the time it takes to begin CPR following a collapse.

High performance CPR is a quality team performance

sometimes called the “dance of resuscitation”, “the CPR ballet”,

 or “pitstop approach to CPR”.

Like professional race car pit crews, each team member knows exactly what to do and

does it with the minimal waste of time and effort.

An important element of resuscitation care is HP-CPR

and evidence indicates that the highest quality of

CPR compressions combined with minimal

interruptions to CPR has a significant effect on patient outcomes.

Learning the science that drives the key areas of emphasis

including depth, rate, recoil, minimizing interruptions and controlled ventilations helps students to better understand

“The Big Picture” of High Performance CPR.

Course Topics

  • The Science of High Performance CPR
  • Quality makes a difference;
  • High-quality chest compressions;
  • High-quality rescue breaths;
  • Multiple-provider CPR;
  • Tips and tricks to improve CPR performance;
  • High-performance CPR;
  • Maintaining readiness

HLTAID010 Provide Basic Emergency Life Support

This first aid course will allow you to develop skills and knowledge and most importantly, confidence to recognise and respond to life-threatening emergencies while awaiting an ambulance.

Providing effective, lifesaving first aid interventions requires instruction and practical training.  This is especially true where it relates to potentially fatal illnesses and injuries, such as those that require cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) or involve severe bleeding. These procedures carry a risk of further injury to the casualty and the first aider.  As with any training, it is more useful if training occurs before being confronted with an actual real-life situation.

You will develop the skills to preserve life, prevent the condition from worsening, and promote recovery.  It includes initial intervention techniques such as performing CPR, as well as the first aid treatment of other conditions, such as administering an autoinjector, or asthma medication, or assisting someone choking.

The course is delivered in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council guidelines and applies to all workers or members of the community who may be required to provide CPR in the event of an emergency.

This first aid course is essential for everyday life events, allowing you to provide immediate and effective basic emergency life support to workers or others who have been injured or become ill at the workplace or at home.

Course Includes

  • Chain of survival
  • Assessing the situation
  • Basic life support - DRSABCD
  • Infection control
  • Performing CPR
  • Appropriate use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
  • Care of the unconscious person
  • Allergic reaction
  • Anaphylaxis
  • Bleeding control
  • Choking and airway obstruction
  • Respiratory distress, including Asthma
  • Shock
  • Stroke

* CPR adult assessment must be completed on the floor

Back to CPR & Basic Life Support

HLTAID011 Provide First Aid

 This first aid course will allow you to develop skills and knowledge and most importantly, confidence, to provide first aid treatment to any person suffering a sudden illness or injury.  You will develop the skills to preserve life, prevent the condition from worsening, and promote recovery.  It includes initial intervention in a casualty with a serious condition prior to professional medical help being available, such as performing CPR while awaiting an ambulance, as well as the complete treatment of other less serious conditions, such as applying water for burns, or assisting someone choking.

The course is delivered in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council guidelines and applies to all workers or members of the community who may be required to provide CPR in the event of an emergency.

Childcare First Aid

 Providing effective, lifesaving first aid interventions requires instruction and practical training.  As with any training, it is more useful if training occurs before being confronted with a real-life situation, particularly in an education and care setting.

This course has been developed for educators and support staff working within an education and care setting who are required to respond to a first aid emergency, including asthmatic and anaphylactic emergencies.  It is delivered in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council guidelines.

During training you will gain the confidence and ability to recognise an emergency situation, identify hazards and make them safer, and provide a first aid response to infants, children and adults.

You will also learn the importance of recognising the possible psychological impacts on self, other rescuers and children, talking with children about their emotions and responses to events and participating in debriefing with your supervisor.
